DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade has been reported in parts of Nebraska with 
dressed deals marked at $295 to $296, fully steady with yesterday's 
business, and $1 to $2 higher than last week's weekly weighted averages. 
Asking prices are around $185 to $186 in the South, and $297-plus in the 
North. Late yesterday afternoon/early evening a light trade developed in 
parts of the North with dressed deals at $295 to $296, $1 to $2 higher 
than last week's weighted averages. Some of these cattle are set for 
delayed delivery, the weeks of May 13th or May 20th. With cattle futures 
sharply higher at this time, Southern producers are holding out to see if 
they can get higher money, so trade in that area may be delayed until 
sometime Friday.

Beef cutouts are mixed at midday (choice 293.34 -0.20, select 288.54 
+0.47) with moderate to good box movement (73.25 lds of choice cuts, 
15.15 lds of select cuts, 4.30 lds of trim, and 14.94 lds of ground). 
Cattle futures near the top of the noon hour are sharply higher on both 
live and feeder contracts.
